When adding products from Shopify to Zopi, you have two key options: Duplicate and Override. Choosing the right option is crucial for managing your products effectively, especially regarding how it impacts existing orders. In this article, we will focus on when to use each option based on your needs and the status of your current orders.

Duplicate Product allows you to create a new product in Zopi that retains the original product on Shopify and its associated orders. This option is particularly useful when you want to change the fulfillment service location without affecting existing orders.

Override Product allows you to replace all variants of an existing product in Zopi with new information. This option is suitable when you want to update product details and are willing to accept that existing orders may be affected by these changes.

Duplicate is the ideal choice when you want to create a new product without affecting existing orders. This option allows you to:

  • Preserve Existing Orders: If you have ongoing orders for a product and want to keep their details intact, using Duplicate ensures that the original product and its associated orders remain unchanged.
  • The important point here is that this duplicated product will be managed by Zopi, and all its related information (such as price, inventory, and description) will be automatically synchronized between your Shopify store and Zopi.

Use Duplicate when you want to avoid impacting existing orders. This is particularly useful if you are still processing those orders or if you want to maintain the integrity of the original product’s information.

The “Override” option is the correct choice when you want to update an existing product on your store with new information from a supplier, specifically when you currently have NO PENDING OR RECENTLY FULFILLED ORDERS for that particular product.

  • Updated Information: If you have already processed all existing orders and want to update the product details (such as price, description, or images), Override allows you to replace the old information with the new one.
  • Streamlined Management: If you have finished handling previous orders and want to keep your product list tidy by avoiding duplicates, Override is a good choice. It helps you maintain a single version of the product with the most current information.

Use Override when you are ready to accept changes to existing orders. This option is beneficial if you have already completed processing those orders and want to ensure that your product information is up-to-date.

Choosing between Duplicate and Override when adding products from Shopify to Zopi depends on your current order status and how you want to manage your product information. Use Duplicate to protect existing orders and maintain their details, while Override is suitable for updating product information when you have already handled previous orders.
